Sunday
I woke up this morning and it was cold. There is no central heating in my apartment,
so 50 degrees, with roaring wind and being a little damp, is downright
COLD. I am not complaining, because one
day soon enough, probably a month from now, I will be encountering 90s every
day. So why not get dressed quickly and
go to Starbucks.
I have said before that I love my neighborhood. It is clean and beautiful trees are blooming
all over the place. This tree I can see
from my window, so I went to look for it first.
Hey I found it is in the courtyard of a pizzeria. Gotta go visit that place! Starbucks is about four blocks from my
house. A nice coffee and roll costs only
$4. And it warms a body on a cold winter
morning.
I am thinking I am too far from my church, Iglesia
Berea. It is a 20-minute taxi drive that
usually costs 20 Bs. ($3). I only manage
to go on Sunday mornings, but have visited on Saturday evening and Sunday
evening. Both services were so
good. Maybe my second year here, I will
look for something closer to both church and school. I am though, enjoying living in the center of
the city, but probably am paying too much.
Pastor Percy is preaching through Revelation. I really enjoy when a pastor takes time to
preach through a book of the Bible. I
know Pastor Dave was preaching through Matthew when I left for Bolivia. As fast as he preaches through a book of the
Bible, he will probably be in chapter 8 when I get home. It took him a year to preach through First
John. More and more over the last years,
the book of Revelation makes sense.
Thirty years ago it was confusing.
Now it seems like we are talking about next week. Maybe we are.
Did you know that Obama Care includes the mandatory implant
of a chip in either your hand or head?
Are we at the point where the Mark of the Beast is real? This might get
a few followers to stop following me, but hey it is out there. It is important that we not be asleep when
Christ returns.
My taxi driver home did not know where the Plaza Blacut or
Tahuichi Stadium are. He did know where
Avenida Irala is, so I helped him find home.
He must not know the center of the city that well, because more than
half of my journey home was in the Ramada Market; that is one crazy crowded
place!
A stop at Chicken Kingdom for lunch (and dinner and
breakfast) and I am back home to spend the day writing.
God bless you on your journey.
