My Ninth Grade Class
I thought you might like to meet my 9th grade
class. Here are some pictures for you to
enjoy.
What can I say about this group? They are fun to be with and, generally, they
work hard for me.
I have one boy I have nicknamed Goliath for two
reasons. The first is that when I
assigned the groups to tell me about one bible story they read when we were
studying ancient Hebrew literature, he played Goliath. The second is that he is tall, about 6’3” or
6’4”. He is taller than me!
I have a boy that is writing his first novel. Since I am doing the same, I think that is so
cool. His is set in the future. I am not at liberty to say more. And his dad is from Fort Worth, even
cooler. A fellow Texan.
The girls are all pretty quiet, and pretty too. There are so many boys in class and so few
girls, that I think I will most often have them work as a group of girls. As I said they are a little quiet, so I am
still getting to know them.
I have an Italian boy, though more Bolivian than Italian; a
Chinese boy; a Korean boy; an English boy; and two Americans. Though most of these have been raised in
Bolivia and are as Bolivian as anything else.
The other day the Chinese boy corrected the word order of my Spanish
sentence.
Several of these boys play the music in chapel, guitars and
drums. I love seeing any teen make that
leap to lead as they are.
A funny story to end today’s blog. My English boy, while writing vocabulary
sentences, asked me how to spell bigotious.
Yes, I know that is not a word.
The vocabulary word he was using was bigot and he was trying to turn it
into an adjective. The word sounded so
good, or maybe because the English accent sounds so intelligent, that I was at
a loss for words for a moment. But I did
finally give him the adjective form, bigoted.
Love this class.
